What is Brain Stack and UnWind Supposed to Do?
Brain Stack has become a popular pre-formulated nootropic brain pill, designed to improve focus, alertness, improve memory functions, and boost mental energy. It is meant to be taken in the morning to provide the mental energy and focus needed throughout the day. BrainStack has received some good reviews and questions from our readers. Therefore, I wanted to put it to the test.
The UnWind nootropic brain pill was designed to reduce stress, anxiety, nervousness, and induce sleep. It is supposed to help increase a content and calm demeanor. UnWind also induces relaxation and sleep. Sleep deprivation is a serious problem for many people. Therefore, an effective brain pill for relaxation and sleep is in high demand across the world.
I am going to speak about of these both supplements and my experience using them.
Let's start with BrainStack and what comprises the BrainStack formula.
Brain Stack Ingredients
It is always important to understand the ingredients that comprise any nootropic brain pill. You want to have a solid understanding of the ingredients you are putting into your body and the purposes behind those ingredients.
The following can be found in the Brain Stack nootropic brain pill:
Alpha GPC (175mg)
Alpha GPC is known as a top notch high-quality choline source. It helps enhance memory, mental focus, attention, and overall cognitive ability. Alpha GPC also works very synergistically well with other nootropic ingredients, helping to potentiate their effects.
Huperzine A (150 mcg)
Huperzine A is known as one of the best natural brain health supplements. It helps to enhance cognitive function, boost memory and has neuroprotective effects. Huperzine A also works synergistically well with other nootropic ingredients, making it an excellent addition to most stacks.
Hericium Erinaceus (300 mg)
Hericium Erinaceus is more commonly known as Lion's Mane. It is supposed to help enhance focus, memory, increase nerve repair, and prevent overall cognitive decline, which includes brain disorders like Alzheimer's Disease.
L-Theanine (120 mg)
L-theanine is an essential and effective nootropic ingredient that works well with other nootropics, especially caffeine. It is known for improving focus, attention, sleep, and the nervous system. L-Theanine even controls blood pressure. Many studies have proven L-theanine can reduce stress, boost overall mood, and improve cognition. It provides a calm yet alert mindset that eliminates any of the jittery feelings you may experience from stimulants.
Caffeine (60 mg)
Probably the most widely consumed nootropic ingredient in the world. It helps to enhance focus, memory, stamina, and also detoxify the liver. The combination with L-theanine is known to help prevent cognitive decline. It also helps reduce the risk of brain disorders like Alzheimer's disease while increasing mental stamina and helps to ease feelings of depression. Caffeine works wonderfully when combined with L-Theanine to help potentiate the overall effects and benefits that caffeine can provide without the jitters. Essentially, L-Theanine helps to bring out the best of caffeine.
Bacopa Monnieri (200 mg)
Another one of the best natural brain health supplements. It is known for increasing overall brain function and memory. Bacopa has been tested and proven for to enhance memory and concentration. Recent studies have shown that Bacopa can cut the time to learn a new task in half! It also works synergistically well with the right blend of other nootropic ingredients. The overall quality of Bacopa can vary. Therefore, the quality of Bacopa used in the BrainStack brain pill would need to meet quality-standards to make a huge difference.
Pterostilbene (50 mg)
An underrated nootropic supplement that is known to reverse the effects of cognitive decline. Pterostilbene provides a number of other health benefits to the body. It can even help slow down or reverse the effects of cognitive decline and aging of the brain.
Mucuna Pruriens (200 mg)
This nootropic ingredient is known for boosting mental energy levels, focus, concentration, and promotes deep sleep. Mucuna Pruriens contains natural dopamine, which is one of the most important neurotransmitters found in the brain. It plays a strong role in our ability to focus and concentrate at a higher level. Mucuna is also known for regulating mood and sexuality.
GABA (200 mg)
One of my personal favorite supplement ingredients used to promote relaxation. GABA promotes calmness, deep sleep, lucid dreaming, and also reduces anxiety levels. It is the most important inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. GABA also increases the production of alpha brain waves, known to enhance focus and overall mental clarity. However, it also decreases beta brain waves commonly responsible for nervousness and scattered thoughts.
Vitamin B6 (15 mg)
One of the essential B vitamins. It helps to increase energy, regulate overall mood, and produce proper brain development. Vitamin B6 also plays a role in the production of serotonin and dopamine, which is responsible for nerve communication. It is an essential vitamin that stacks well with various nootropic supplements.
Vitamin B12 (100 mcg)
Vitamin B12 is responsible for decreasing fatigue, lethargy, and overall stress. It is also an essential B vitamin that helps enhance mental energy. Adequate amounts of Vitamin B12 can also play a role in preventing cognitive decline. Research has also shown the positive benefits that vitamin B12 has on improving overall memory functions. With the right combination of nootropics, it can even help alleviate certain memory problems. It is also known to enhance mental clarity and focus.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine HCL (300 mg)
This powerful antioxidant helps to reduce overall fatigue. It actually plays an integral role in improving the functions of the entire human body. Acetyl-L-Carnitine is known for producing mitochondria for the production of physical and mental energy.
Magnesium Glycinate (200 mg)
The majority of the world's population has a magnesium deficiency. However, it has a dramatic effect on improving various aspects of memory and learning capabilities. Magnesium is also known for improving overall mood and reducing stress. This crucial ingredient is very important to the human body and brain and usually needs to be supplemented to attain adequate dosages.
An Important and Critical Fact About The Brain Stack Ingredients – TRANSPARENCY!
One of the things that immediately caught my attention was the transparency of Maven Labs.
Instead of being vague by stating “proprietary ingredients” that show no specifics regarding the amounts of each ingredient that comprise their formula, they clearly state the ingredients and dosages found in their formula. You know exactly what you are getting with the Brain Stack brain pill. This helped me trust the product a bit more. You would be surprised how many brain supplements are unclear about the ingredients that make up their nootropic stack. Transparency is always a positive thing I look for when researching various nootropic supplements.
The Brain Stack Review and Experience
On the surface, Brain Stack is a relatively simple, pre-formulated brain pill that seems to have conducted their research of the essential ingredients that can work synergistically-well, when combined. Sometimes a very simple formula can meet the exact needs of an everyday user and their cognitive needs and goals.
Maven Labs has a dedicated team of neuroscientists that conduct real research and testing in their personal labs. They seem to take great care in not only assuring quality control but backing up their formula with real scientific research and facts.
The combination of research, testing, science, and quality-control are all positives in my book. However, it still didn't mean BrainStack would provide the benefits it claimed.
But you know what else I noticed about BrainStack?
All of the ingredients found inside Brain Stack have been proven to work as the result of real research conducted throughout the world. The Brain Stack brain pill was not developed by guessing which ingredients might work best. Instead, it was designed to produce specific cognitive benefits to the user, based on proven research and testing.
These facts alone do not guarantee the brain pill would work, but it's a step in the right direction.
With that being said:
Would Brain Stack provide the cognitive benefits that they claimed or fall short of those expectations?
My Experience with Brain Stack
I started to feel a noticeable cognitive difference within the first 30 mins of taking two capsules on my first morning. The first thing I noticed was an increase in my overall mental energy but without any type of jitters. Instead, this felt like a calm and steady energy that also boosted my mood. I felt motivated.
What I particularly liked about Brain Stack is that it provided a well-balanced mix that benefited me in multiple areas of overall cognitive functioning. There was clearly a boost to my mental energy but I also felt sharper and focused. BrainStack had me feeling alerted in a steady and calm manner that actually helped reduce my stress levels at the same time. It was a noticeable balance of focus and mental energy.
BrainStack Usage Over Time
The longer I continued to use the Brain Stack brain pill, the more I clearly noticed an increase in my motivation, production, mood, focus, and mental energy. It even helped improve my memory recall and seemed to make learning new things a little bit easier. Reading and working seemed to occur more fluidly as my productivity increased each day. These were all observations I continued to make while consistently taking BrainStack.
While Brain Stack does not contain some of the more potent nootropics like those from the racetam class, it is still a pretty robust formula. A lot more robust than I expected.
I believe what makes the Brain Stack formula so effective is the fact that it is so well-balanced. It gives a lot of Cholinergic activity that is combined with dopamine boosters, focus enhancers, along with its neuroprotective assets. This was a great combination that provided multiple and consistent cognitive benefits.
What Can You Expect from BrainStack at First
Don't expect an incredibly noticeable difference to all of your cognitive functions during the first couple days you use the Brain Stack brain pill. BrainStack is not a miracle brain pill. It is not the type of nootropic brain supplement that you take once and have a “Limitless Pill” experience while using. You won't become a genius overnight.
However, you can expect to feel a significant impact on your overall mood stabilization. The combination of Mucuna Pruriens and L-Theanine are the driving forces behind the increased positive mood you will most likely feel during the first couple days your body acclimates to the brain pill supplement.
As You Continue Using BrainStack
Following the first couple days of usage, there is a more noticeable impact on the cognitive benefits it produces. You may find it easier to relax, eliminate distractions, and quite simply, get more done. I definitely noticed a gradual but noticeable increase in my overall productivity during the 30-day usage period. There was an apparent increase in my alertness which helped motivate my productivity. Additionally, I felt like ideas seemed to flow more easily as I continued to regularly take the supplement. I would imagine that this can improve creativity for those who may work jobs or engage in activities that require it. The longer I used BrainStack, the better fluid cognitive benefits I experienced from day-to-day.
Brain Stack Can Make an Excellent “Base” Stack
I used the Brain Stack brain pills on their own for 3 full weeks.
However, I became curious to experiment a little bit by stacking some individual nootropic supplements on top of the BrainStack brain pill. I discovered that BrainStack also serves as an excellent “base” nootropic stack for those of you who may want to combine some different types or even some more potent and powerful nootropics with it.
Therefore, I added some Pramiracetam, Noopept, and some additional high-quality Uridine with Brain Stack to see if the formula would potentiate their overall effects. As expected, Brain Stack complimented these additional nootropics very well! It potentiated the benefits felt from the additional nootropics added to the stack while keeping my mood and overall mental energy levels perfectly aligned.
So, for those of you who may be a little more seasoned nootropic users, I would highly recommend using Brain Stack as an effective base for your customized nootropic stack. Finding an effective pre-formulated nootropic stack can be very beneficial to experience the best from some of the more potent and powerful nootropics.
If you do have a little more experience using nootropics but need a little help customizing a nootropic stack to add to the Brain Stack formula, feel free to head on over and fill out our brief customized nootropic stack form. We will personally customize a nootropic stack for your specific cognitive needs and goals for FREE!
The Bottom Line About Brain Stack
It seems like there is a fresh nootropic brain pill being released every other week. In what is becoming a more crowded marketplace, BrainStack is absolutely one of the better options available to you.
The overall ingredients found in a BrainStack brain pill is well-rounded and perfectly balanced. This is definitely something you want to look for when using a nootropic stack like this on its own or in combination with other nootropic ingredients. Either way, BrainStack produced cognitive benefits.
BrainStack also provides a very healthy dose of neuroprotective qualities which I have always noticed to be something that is commonly missing from other pre-formulated nootropic supplements and/or customized stacks. It is not only good for delivering noticeable cognitive benefits now but it is also working hard behind the scenes to protect the brain and even prevent potential future brain disorders or problems.
BrainStack May Not Be the Strongest Nootropic Brain Pill, but…
Overall, BrainStack might not be the strongest brain pill on the market but it is an excellent solution that produces noticeable daily results. It can also provide an excellent “base” stack to add with more potent nootropic ingredients.
I personally feel that BrainStack respectably competes with some of the more popular nootropic supplements on the market, like Alpha Brain from Onnit. They just simply don't have the same celebrity endorsement of people like Joe Rogan behind it.
But you have me and I am always as honest and unbiased about all of my many experiences using various nootropic supplements over the past 4+ years.
You also get 2 full bottles of the supplement when you buy BrainStack! $59.99 for two bottles that can roughly last a person two months is well worth the investment. I personally preferred using BrainStack as my base to create a bit of a stronger nootropic stack. However, I have also developed a higher tolerance than most people who may be trying a brain pill like this one for the first time. Maven Labs have been around for a while and continue to receive positive accolades from their users. BrainStack is definitely one of the better pre-formulated nootropic supplements out there.
What About UnWind? A Sleep Aid Brain Pill? Does UnWind Work?
I decided to combine my review of BrainStack and UnWind considering that I was using both supplements over the course of the same 30-days.
UnWind serves a completely different purpose than BrainStack. If they both worked, they could potentially make a great team. One can help get you going in a productive and positive way during the day and the other could potentially help you get a good night's sleep. However, UnWind would have to go through a more difficult test.
As someone who personally struggles with sleep most nights, I was very skeptical about whether or not UnWind would help me fall asleep quicker, stay asleep throughout the night, stay asleep for a longer duration, and allow me to wake up without that groggy feeling coupled with brain fog.
While BrainStack serves the purpose of boosting focus and productivity during the day, the UnWind brain pill was designed to promote relaxation and deep sleep. The overall importance of sleep cannot be understated. Sleep deprivation is a serious problem and can have many negative effects on overall brain health and productivity. Lack of healthy sleep can have a major negative impact on our overall health.
Therefore, Maven Labs created UnWind to provide their users with rest, relaxation and peaceful sleep.
I would not be the easiest subject to test this type of supplement. However, I figured that I may also be the perfect type of person to determine how well it really works. Very few OTC type of sleep supplements has ever helped me fall and stay asleep.
Just like BrainStack, UnWind was transparent about the ingredients found in their formula. You will know exactly what you are taking and it is clearly labeled on the bottle.
The UnWind brain pill ingredients are as follows:
Pyridoxine (5 mg)
This ingredient regulates the mood and brain development. Pyridoxine, a form of Vitamin B6 has been proven through research to play an integral role in the production of both serotonin and dopamine, necessary for nerve communication.
Magnesium Glycinate (250 mg)
* See above for description and benefits of the same ingredient found in the BrainStack formula.
L-Taurine (500 mg)
Taurine plays a very important role in creating new brain cells. Research has shown that taurine increases the growth of brain cells by activating “sleeping” stem cells. Taurine also increases the survival of new neurons, which ultimately increases the production of new brain cells.
Valerian Root (100 mg)
Valerian Root is well known for its sedative qualities and the ability to relax the overall central nervous system. It has been used for hundreds of years as a natural sleep aid that especially helps those who have difficulty falling asleep due to anxiety or nervousness.
Chamomile (75 mg)
It has been used for centuries for its calming and anti-inflammatory properties. Chamomile has been studied and proven to reduce anxiety. It works by relaxing the nerves and muscles in the body. Chamomile Tea has always been a very popular drink of choice as a natural anti-anxiety solution. It also works synergistically well with Valerian Root to help potentiate the overall effects.
L-Theanine (75 mg)
* Refer to description above, as L-Theanine is also included in the BrainStack formula. L-Theanine has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety. It also works synergistically well with other relaxation ingredients like Valerian Root and Chamomile.
5-HTP (50 mg)
This ingredient is used to help with a variety of things. 5-HTP specifically relating to sleep benefits can help with stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and addictive behavior. It increases the production of Serotonin levels. Serotonin levels in the nervous system are essential for helping us fall asleep. The 5-HTP found in UnWind is designed to take off the edge and make it easier to fall and stay asleep.
Lemon Balm (50 mg)
Research has shown that lemon balm encourages a more restful sleep. Lemon Balm works especially well when mixed with Valerian Root and research has shown the combination of the two results in better sleep.
Hop Flower (50 mg)
Traditionally, hop flower has been used to help treat nervous disorders as well as reduce anxiety while improving the quality of sleep. In some places, this herb is used as a traditional medicine to improve sleep due to its calming, sedating, hypnotic, and sleep-inducing effects. It is said to work very well with other herbs that help reduce stress and anxiety and/or promote overall relaxation.
Passion Flower (50 mg)
This ingredient can provide relief from disorders of nervousness and/or insomnia. By boosting the brain's overall levels of GABA, it will help mellow a person out by lowering brain activity. Passion flower is well known for improving the overall quality of sleep.
Melatonin (3 mg)
Several large analysis research studies have shown the various sleep-enhancing benefits that Melatonin can produce. Many studies have revealed that Melatonin can significantly reduce the amount of time it takes for a person to fall asleep. It is also known for boosting sleep efficiency. Meaning, the amount of time someone actually spends in bed asleep. Melatonin has also been shown to increase a person's sleep duration.
My UnWind Review and Experience
I typically have trouble falling asleep at night. A lot of it can probably be contributed to my ADHD sleep disorder. Not only do I have trouble falling asleep, I also have trouble staying asleep. I am constantly waking up in the middle of the night, sometimes wired and disrupting my sleep quality. Therefore, I can typically get a poor overall duration of sleep and wake up the next day feeling groggy or feel the annoyance of brain fog throughout the better part of my morning.
Therefore, I can typically get a poor overall duration of sleep and wake up the next day feeling groggy or feel the annoyance of brain fog throughout the better part of my morning.
Getting a poor night of sleep can not only make you feel groggy the next day, it can leave you feeling lethargic and unproductive.
I have tried a lot of different over-the-counter and/or natural sleep remedies with very little success. This has included very limited success using prescription sleep medication (which I no longer take).
Therefore, I was pretty doubtful that a formula like UnWind was going to make a significant difference. While, just like the BrainStack formula, UnWind appeared to be a well-rounded and balanced brain pill. However, nothing popped out at me as being strong enough to work for my needs.
How Well Did I Sleep While Using UnWind?
I took 2 capsules of UnWind about an hour before I wanted to fall asleep. However, I continued to do my regular routine before and after getting ready for bed. This included spending a little time on my phone, messing around with sports news and social media. The recommended dosage is only 1 capsule but knowing both my body and brain, as well as my difficulty falling asleep, I chose to give two a try.
Here's the deal:
I realize that it may be more difficult to fall asleep if you are looking at a small digital screen while lying in bed, but I wanted to keep it real. I'm not always perfect and while I try to practice better sleeping habits when I can, there are still times that I don't follow some of the expert's advice on how to get a better night's sleep. Therefore, I was going to test UnWind as if it was any other night. I wanted to know if the supplement worked on its own.
Basically, I wanted to know if the UnWind brain supplement could make me fall asleep and keep me asleep on its own.
I would know if UnWind was working.
If UnWind was working, I would certainly know it!
No less than 30 minutes after taking the 2 capsules of the UnWind brain pills, I started to noticeably feel my eyes getting heavier. My body started to feel relaxed and I could feel a subtle notion that my brain just might be getting ready to slow down and start to rest for the night.
I continued to stare and use my phone for another 10-15 minutes before realizing that I had fallen asleep lying with my phone in hand. Suddenly I woke up and was shocked to honestly say I was ready to shut down the phone and go to sleep. I simply couldn't keep my eyes open any longer and I felt so relaxed that I wanted to let my head hit the pillow and close my eyes. This was shocking to me, to say the least. There had literally been a 3-month stretch that I was taking a prescription sleep medication that never had me feeling as tired and ready to go to sleep as UnWind did at that moment.
My reaction to UnWind also confirmed that there was not a lasting effect of energy from taking BrainStack earlier in the day.
The UnWind brain pill had at least passed the first test. I was tired and ready to go to sleep. Now, I wanted to know if I would stay asleep and how I would feel in the morning.
The Bottom Line About the UnWind Brain Pill
UnWind may be one of the best natural sleep supplements I have ever tried. It just flat-out works and for someone like me to say it, means that it really does work. I was noticeably tired, ready for bed and fell sound asleep within ten minutes of my head hitting the pillow.
Do you want to know the best part?
I stayed asleep throughout the entire night without waking up at 3 AM having no idea what to do with myself. It felt great! I am still in disbelief as I write this review by how consistently it worked. Not only did I fall asleep rather quickly and have a peaceful night of rest and relaxation, I also did not feel exhausted or groggy in the morning.
Since UnWind comes with 2 bottles of the product, I decided to continue using it even after my 30-day testing period with BrainStack and UnWind had ended. It was working and I didn't have another option that worked as well.
I would also recommend UnWind to those of you taking ADHD prescription medications. One of the side effects I experienced while taking medications like Adderall, was difficulty falling and staying asleep at night. I believe a sleep-aid like UnWind can potentially help those of you struggling with ADHD.
UnWind allowed me to feel tired more quickly, fall asleep much faster, stay asleep throughout the night, and not wake up in the morning feeling like a zombie throughout the rest of my day.
The neuroscience team over at Maven Labs really know what they are doing.
Sometimes it is not about using the most powerful ingredients you can possibly find to make a good brain pill, but rather use the perfect combination and quantity to create a product that produces real cognitive results.
UnWind is a product I will continue to use. I would recommend it to anyone who has any trouble with sleep and/or sleep deprivation. There are a lot of sleep aids out there and I realize that some of you with sleep issues may feel like you have tried them all. However, give UnWind a try. I can all but guarantee it will make a significant difference in your overall quality of sleep. Sleep is incredibly important for the brain to function at optimal levels. UnWind most definitely helped me sleep!
A good night of sleep also better complimented the BrainStack nootropic brain pill in the morning. I felt more noticeable positive effects after getting a good night of sleep.
Overall Opinion About Brain Stack and UnWind from Maven Labs
As you can probably tell from my praise of both products, I would recommend that you buy BrainStack and/or buy UnWind. If BrainStack is not strong enough for your overall cognitive needs because you have a little more experience using nootropics, it serves as an excellent “base” to stack with a few of the more potent and powerful nootropic supplements.
We will even help you customize a nootropic stack to use with it for free! They are perfect for someone that is newer to the world of nootropics. It provides a noticeable difference that will keep you more mentally sharp and productive throughout your day.
When to Use UnWind?
As far as UnWind is concerned, it is the type of product I would recommend keeping around the house if you even occasionally struggle with sleep. You will be grateful to have a safe sleep aid option when you really need it. UnWind helps you fall asleep quickly and stay asleep throughout the night. The best part is you don't wake up the next day filled with brain fog or feeling groggy. If it can help someone like me fall and stay asleep, I truly believe that it is capable of helping nearly anyone.
Overall, Maven Labs has produced two high-quality products at an extremely reasonable cost. Plus, they even go the extra mile by providing you with 2 full bottles for a price that most companies charge for one. I can't recommend the combination of these products to beginners highly enough. However, as someone who has been using various nootropic brain pills for the greater part of 5 years, I can attest to the fact that both BrainStack and UnWind are capable of providing valuable benefits.
If this is your first time using a nootropic brain pill, look no further than a combination that will give you a true taste of what nootropics are capable of cognitively producing for you.
Have you tried the BrainStack brain pill? Have you tried to use UnWind? I would love to hear feedback from the readers who decide to take our recommendation and/or from those who may have already tried one or both of these products in the past. Please be sure to leave any questions, comments, and/or stories below!
